In Ohio, the JSHS is sponsored by BGSU and NWO, with continued support of the U.S. Army Research Office, U.S. Office of Naval Research, and U.S. Air Force Research Office. Two student finalists and three alternates from the OJSHS program are chosen (all expenses paid) to attend the National JSHS. The OJSHS first place finalist presents his/her research paper to compete for six opportunities to represent the United States at the London International Youth Science Fortnight (LIYSF). The OJSHS second place finalist also presents his/her research paper in a competitive session at the National JSHS and a chance to attend the LIYSF. Since 1966, 35 Ohio JSHS winners have presented papers at the National Junior Science and Humanities Symposium. Thirteen of these subsequently presented their papers at the LIYSF in London, England.
